An icon depicting the Virgin Mary (Theotokos) as the Life-Giving Spring (Zoodochos Pege). This icon originates in the story of Mary's revelation of a sacred spring in Constantinople, which was commemorated by the consturction of the Church of St. Mary of the Spring.

The Virgin Mary sits in the chalice-shaped baroque fountain holding the Christ child. They are flanked by two angels on each side. A further two angels on either side of the fountain hold a scroll which tells the story of the Life-Giving Spring. Around the well, a crowd of people have gathered. In the bottom righthand corner, an inscription gives the date of the work (1865) and may list donors.
